Create a subdomain and install WordPress using cPanel

You've been blogging with wordpress for a while, and you're thinking about expanding into other areas. You might wonder if you need to pay for another domain and get another web address.

In this case, don't hesitate to create a subdomain on your existing main domain. What is cPanel?

cPanel(hereafter, Seapanel) is a web hosting control panel that lets you manage your website and related services. With a little familiarization, you can easily control the websites you manage through a comfortable interface.

Seapanel uses the Domain management, email account creation, file management, database management and much more. Although it is still lesser known in Korea, it is one of the most widely used web hosting control panels worldwide.

Create a subdomain

Once logged in to your cPanel, click on Domains in the Domains section. Click 'Create A New Domain' to enter the domain creation details, as shown in the image above. Enter the subdomain you want to create (in this case, game.secondlife.lol) and click 'Submit'. You will then see 'Success' and confirm that your subdomain has been created, as shown in the image below.

Installing wordpress on a subdomain

Now we're going to install wordpress on our subdomain to run our website, so let's go back to the cpanel and scroll down to the very bottom and you'll see the wordpress icon and click on it.

'Install'and select the subdomain you want to install, then scroll down to the bottom and enter your site name, site description, admin password, admin email, etc. and finally click the Installto command wordpress to install.

After a minute or two, you will see a screen like the one below, indicating that the wordpress installation has been successful. Then, click on the Administer URL to access the wordpress main screen. Now you're ready to start blogging on your favorite subdomain.

One thing to check

There's one thing you need to check here. You've already done so for your main domain, but it's a good idea to secure your subdomains as well, right? As shown in the image below, you'll need to set the 'Force HTTPS Redirect'to 'On'and you'll see that the setup was successful.

How do I delete a subdomain?

If you install a subdomain and realize that you don't like it, you can delete it and recreate it again using the above procedure. Go to the Domains section of your cPanel and click on the subdomain's 'Manage'and then click 'Remove Domain' Press the button boldly to delete.
